    Usually, a film trailer includes a bit of the best to make you want to watch. This isn't it. Whoever filmed this had to be set up across the street from my house in the first scene. So, they took the last house on the north side of town and filmed it facing away from town to make things look desolate. Didn't want to show the newly renovated house next door that is for sale for a quarter mil. Or the long row of tidy, neatly kept houses if the camera had pointed south. To me there was a missed opportunity if the objective is to help out a poor community. Painting this town in the worst possible light will do more harm than good in my opinion. I have not seen the entire documentary...but that's my point, this trailer doesn't make me want to watch it.

    From what I've seen from this clip and a few others, its clear that's the makers of this film had an agenda before filming ever began and they carefully selected segments and issues from the community that fit their agenda. While I can't say it's a load of crap, it is definitely one sided and therefore deceitful

    • @newdayfilms
      @newdayfilms Месяц назад

      A big element that separates educational documentaries from the news is how a filmmaker often chooses to make the film precisely because there is something in particular they want to highlight and in a particular way. And you're right that there's a process of selecting scenes and not showing others. That's definitely part of the editing process. Thank you for watching and commenting.

      @newdayfilms if you're going to call it a documentary, then document all of it, there is a lot.of good and positive things in the community you ignored. Really, it's an opinion piece, not a documentary at all

      @@stevelindley191 Thank you for the feedback. I suspect a ton of information, stories, and residents were documented that didn't make it into the film.

    This is, apparently, a very clumsy and poorly written attempt to portray an innocent season of revelry and joy as some sort of insidious orgy of racist and misogynistic depravity. The debutante system is antiquated, without a doubt. And racial divides still exist in New Orleans - as they do throughout the nation. But this overwrought hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth over the supposed institutionalized bigotry of innocent Carnival traditions is entirely misplaced and erroneous.

    2 Esdras 13:39 And whereas thou sawest that he gathered another peaceable multitude unto him; 2 Esdras 13:40 Those are the ten tribes, which were carried away prisoners out of their own land in the time of Osea the king, whom Salmanasar the king of Assyria led away captive, and he carried them over the waters, and so came they into another land. 2 Esdras 13:41 But they took this counsel among themselves, that they would leave the multitude of the heathen, and go forth into a further country, where never mankind dwelt, 2 Esdras 13:42 That they might there keep their statutes, which they never kept in their own land. 2 Esdras 13:43 And they entered into Euphrates by the narrow places of the river. 2 Esdras 13:44 For the most High then shewed signs for them, and held still the flood, till they were passed over. 2 Esdras 13:45 For through that country there was a great way to go, namely, of a year and a half: and the same region is called Arsareth. 2 Esdras 13:46 Then dwelt they there until the latter time; and now when they shall begin to come, 2 Esdras 13:47 The Highest shall stay the springs of the stream again, that they may go through: therefore sawest thou the multitude with peace. 2 Esdras 13:48 But those that be left behind of thy people are they that are found within my borders. 2 Esdras 13:49 Now when he destroyeth the multitude of the nations that are gathered together, he shall defend his people that remain. 2 Esdras 13:50 And then shall he shew them great wonders.

    What I didn't care to understand as a former Ida B. Wells resident was the fact that when came time for demolition, the residents of these buildings didn't even want to leave. They were scared to change their environment for improvement on their lives and family lives. They were mostly too comfortable living in those conditions and so they were all forced to change and get adjusted to another level in life.

    that shit pisses me off because the powers that be have been intensely pushing for ''community inclusion'' and least restrictive environments'', and person centered / self directed care / decisions/ planning and goals for the last 25 years or so. but yet they (medicare) want to only support and fund in-home care, and the basic physical needs ??! thats bullshit ! it makes no sense .

    I knew Stan. He sparked a renaissance and healed whole community. I had the honor of being able to help pull this totem pole up and felt integrated into a loving system that went back to time immoral even though my ancestors were the "uninvited guests." When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable in front of others, you never know how big the ripples of healing will come. Haw'aa, Stan Marsden, haw'aa for sharing your pain and transforming all of us in the process. Art can heal us.
